The South Asian nations i.e. Afghanistan Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka have been rich cultural zones with a history of thousands of years. It saw the rise of various civilizations, religions, dynasties, human groups, cultures, and arts. The geographical and ethnic-cultural South Asian regions have been presented and represented in varied and variegated forms in literary discourses, arts, and heritage symbols. After the orientalist representation and interpretation, counter-representation and interpretation began both in India and abroad. But the area is so vast that there always remain new things to be explored, interpreted and established. Any discussion on anything belonging to the subcontinent is incomplete without interdisciplinary discussion of the cultural elements.
